Fresh, Traditional, Homemade
Here at The Roman Empire Restaurant we have worked hard to develop an authentic Italian meal experience for all occasions - traditional recipes have been passed down from generation to generation with a modern touch by chef brothers, Giuseppe and Donato Laurito, family owners since 1998.
We source only the freshest ingredients and as locally as possible without compromising on quality. While other restaurants may prepare for a week at a time, we do our prep and sauces every day. Our local suppliers deliver daily, and nothing is frozen. Pappa Laurito tenderly grows the best and freshest herbs & vegetables in his garden at home for this family enterprise.
The tradition of cooking is a family one, and you can taste it in every meal at The Roman Empire restaurant and bar. Nonno Giuseppe started the Sicilian family’s professional traditions of cooking as a chef in the Italian Navy during World War II in the 1940s. Specialty meals such as swordfish prepared for officers, VIPs and dignitaries were a common event, so excellence in authentic Italian recipes was essential. Nonno Giuseppe taught his daughter, who in turn taught her boys, Donato & Giuseppe.
Homemade isn’t just a saying at Roman Empire. Mamma Laurito rises at 4am most days to make the gnocchi, cannoli, lasagne, and many of the desserts crowds of Brisbane locals enjoy at this authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality restaurant in the Mount Gravatt and Carindale area.
